Down Under(ground): ‘25
Kia ora, friends, foes, and acquaintances.
Most years, I try to slap together an end-of-year post highlighting punk and hardcore releases from Aotearoa New Zealand. This year, I’ve thrown some Australian punk and hardcore releases into the mix, too. The stalwart, noisy music portal DIY Conspiracy has been kind enough to publish my Down Under(ground) listicle this year, and you can find the article right here.
As I say in the year-end post, I love writing about Antipodian punk, and what I lack in expertise, knowledge, and basic literacy, I try to make up for with unbridled enthusiasm. This isn’t an attempt by yours truly to craft a ‘Best of ‘25’ kind of list. I’m simply pointing out Kiwi and Aussie releases that caught my attention. All end-of-year lists are subjective, and mine is no exception.
Thanks for reading. Be well. And keep fighting the good fight.
Kia kaha.

P.S.: Still to come this year are a couple of epic-length ICWT end-of-year features…plus a primer on a Japanese punk band. I think it’s that!?! Cheers for your time and patience.
