Barren Hellscape: Anti-Holocaust

Art by Zoe AKA Scroll of Sorrow

Kia ora, folks.

Apologies for the lack of updates lately. I had a fuckin’ wild ‘medical event’ in early May that’s stopped me in my tracks. Fingers crossed, I’ll be able to write more regularly again soon.

In the meantime, here’s a link to a review I had banked for Aotearoa New Zealand crust band Barren Hellscape’s Anti-Holocaust release. Here’s a nugget of what I wrote…

“Barren Hellscape’s second release, Anti-Holocaust, serves as a blunt reminder that achievements mean nothing if we aren’t addressing the suffering of others. Much like the band’s nerve-shredding 2025 demo, Anti-Genocide, Barren Hellscape’s latest release doesn’t waste a moment of your time, cutting right to the quick. The band’s “90s-style noise crust” continues to batter like a clawhammer, and Barren Hellscape’s messaging remains direct and explicit, bypassing the bullshit with violent music and apt soundbites.”

Anti-Holocaust rips/rages, and is highly recommended.

Go easy on yourself.

Kia kaha,
